The Philips iE33 is a premium level cardiovascular ultrasound machine that was launched in 2004 and has been revised and improved over the past decade. In 2010 Philips launched the iE33 xMatrix, a major update that supported the brand new xMatrix transducers with thousands of elements each and capable not only of extraordinary image quality, but also viewing images in 2 planes in real time as well as 4D without the need for a mechanical probe. The Philips iE33 xMatrix also has the powerful QLAB quantification package and a host of other cardiovascular specific software enhancements that speed and add diagnostic confidence to standard cardiac and vascular exams.
The Philips iU22 is a premium shared service ultrasound machine that offers the best image quality possible through xMatrix transducers that offer the best aspects of single-crystal and 4D transducers. The iU22 offers the top of the line image quality and features available for Radiology, OB/GYN, Cardiac, Vascular and even specialty imaging like MSK, Pediatric, and Elastography. The iU22 has been replaced by the Epiq 5, but still maintains top of the line image quality.
The GE Voluson E6 high-end 4D OB/GYN ultrasound machine. The E6 is a slightly scaled down version of the popular Voluson E8 that continues its focus on women’s health and 4D but with a slightly shorter feature set and a lower price. The E8 and E6 look identical from the outside.

Alghough it is an entry level system, the GE Voluson P8 supports in-depth functions of 3D/4D including HDlive. Its automation functions enable busy practices to maintain high quality while reducing time need to conduct, analyze, and report on exams.
The GE ultrasound Voluson S8, is a high-end women’s health 4D ultrasound machine that has a price and features in-between the Voluson E8 and the Voluson S6. The Voluson line from GE is known worldwide for providing the best 4D imaging currently available though Samsung is catching up. The Voluson S8 and S6 look identical and even use most of the same transducers.
The GE Voluson S6 is a midrange 4D OB/GYN ultrasound machine that shares some transducers with the Voluson-i portable. It is the replacement for the Voluson 730 pro and is much smaller and lighter than any other Voluson console. This together with a battery allow it to easily be wheeled from room to room without rebooting. The Voluson S6 is a lower priced version of the S8 with less features and probes, but the two look nearly identical.

The GE Voluson E8, is a premium women’s health 4D ultrasound machine that was the top-of-the-line before the Voluson E10 was released in 2014. GE’s breakthrough technology for this system was the Voluson E8 HD LIVE, a revision with high resolution 4D imaging introduced in 2012 and a standard feature with the Voluson E8 in revision BT12 and newer. The Voluson E8 is the best selling 4D ultrasound machine in the world even though it is more expensive than it’s competitors. The current GE Voluson E8 price range is from approximately $30,000 dollars for the oldest used E8 to $100,000 dollars for a brand new E8.
The GE Voluson E10 is the top-of-the-line premium 4D OB/GYN ultrasound machine. The E10 supersedes but does not replace the lower priced Voluson E8. The E10 offers 4 times the processing power of the E8 a larger screen, sophisticated beam formation and new rendering technologies. The new processing power speeds render times and smooths frame rates so that HD live is even more realistic. However the steep price difference with the E8 means that for now most doctors will still choose the proven Voluson E8.
